The Highway of Waterfalls Starts Here

The Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway is known as Oregon’s “Highway of Waterfalls” - a stretch of road where dozens of waterfalls are accessible within a single, scenic drive.

Steamboat Inn sits right in the middle of it.

Stay here, and the waterfalls aren’t a destination - they’re your day.

Why Use Steamboat as Your Base

Most people try to “fit in” these waterfalls from far away.

You don’t have to.

  • Central location along the byway

  • Clustered waterfalls in both directions

  • Easy to explore at your own pace

  • Return to comfort when you’re done

You can experience more, with less effort.

Here are some of our favorites

  • Toketee Falls - Short walk. Iconic view. This is the one people remember.

  • Watson Falls - The tallest in Southern Oregon.

  • Susan Creek Falls - Easy, accessible, and perfect for a relaxed stop.

Easy-Access Waterfalls (No Hiking Required)

Not every waterfall here requires a hike - and that’s part of what makes this area so special.

Two standout stops along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway are easily accessible for nearly everyone:

  • Whitehorse Falls - A beautiful cascade just steps from the parking area. Minimal walking, maximum reward.

  • Clearwater Falls - Right off the road with viewing areas nearby, perfect for a quick, scenic stop.

These are ideal if you:

  • Prefer a relaxed pace

  • Are traveling with kids or older guests

  • Want to experience the waterfalls without committing to a hike

You don’t have to work hard to see something incredible here.
