The Innkeepers

Steamboat Inn is not run by a corporation, but by people who live here, care deeply about the land, and believe hospitality should feel personal.

We are Melinda and Travis Woodward, caretakers of the Steamboat Inn and its historic setting along the North Umpqua River. We were drawn here by the quiet beauty of the river, the sense of history embedded in the property, and the rare feeling that this is a place meant to slow you down.

Our role is not to reinvent Steamboat Inn, but to honor what has made it special for generations. Every decision we make - whether in how the grounds are cared for, how meals are prepared, or how guests are welcomed, is guided by respect for the land, the legacy of the Inn, and the experience of those who come here seeking rest and connection.

Steamboat Inn is very much a family endeavor. Our daughters, McKenzie and Carmen, are part of daily life here - McKenzie as a member of our housekeeping team and Carmen as a hostess - helping ensure guests feel genuinely welcomed and comfortably cared for.

We believe the best hospitality is thoughtful, unhurried, and rooted in place. We’re grateful to share this special setting with you and to continue its story, one season at a time.
