Characters
Melissa Anderson – Driven to rebuild her life with her new family and recover the success she once had, Melissa is confident she can outwork and outthink any problem. She's wrong. She can sell guests on the dream all day. She's just stopped believing it's true herself.
Woody Anderson – Melissa's husband. After investing his late father's legacy in the lodge, Woody expects semi-retirement and fishing, Melissa expected a business partner.
Sahalie – The only one who didn’t move here on purpose. As the lodge consumes the adults around her, Sahalie struggles to hold onto a normal childhood.
Surrounding them is a cast of unforgettable employees who understand the lodge far better than its new owners. Some become indispensable. Some disappear without warning. Others quietly hope the Andersons fail. Every one of them arrives carrying burdens of their own, and somehow those become Melissa's responsibility too.
One day brings a wildfire evacuation. The next brings a mystery odor no one can solve, a drunk chef, a guest complaint involving a sex toy, or a staff meeting about a ghost named Gordon. None of it was in the business plan. The humor comes not from punchlines, but from the gap between the life Melissa imagined and the reality she inherited.

Author Bio Melinda Woodward is the creator and writer of Thyme on the River. She has owned and operated Steamboat Inn, a historic fly-fishing lodge in Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, since 2017. Alongside her husband, Travis, and daughters, McKenzie and Carmen, she has spent nearly a decade navigating the relentless reality of running a remote wilderness lodge - an experience that inspired Thyme on the River.
Before trading her previous career for hospitality, Melinda earned a degree in science and somehow found herself producing fishing and hunting swimsuit calendars for 15 years, a career path that makes about as much sense as buying a historic lodge conveniently located in the middle of nowhere. It turns out both were excellent preparation for writing television.
Every unbelievable event in Thyme on the River actually happened. She wishes that weren't true.
