Introducing our guest chef and winemaker (and this year brewer!) series is always difficult for me. As I look at the line up I often wonder how we are lucky enough to have all this talent answer our invite to the North Umpqua River, and then I realize I have just answered my own query...it is all about the river! An example is my call to Rick Allen from Heater Allen Brewery to introduce myself and Steamboat. When I asked if he knew about the Inn he told me that I guided him into his first steelhead 20+ years ago and he would be pleased to come and share his great beers. In addition to Heater Allen, Airlie, Arbor Brook Vineyards, Ayres Vineyards & Winery, BlackCap Wines, Cascade Cliffs Vineyard, Newmans at 988 & the Silver Grille are all new to the series.
We are also very excited to debut Cameron Winery’s “true Willamette Valley Nebbiolo,” a project that has been 16 years in the making for John Paul. Our June dinner represents the one and only opportunity to experience this unique and wonderful wine prior to its commercial release in November 2010. Cathy Whims will be pairing Cameron’s wines with the dishes of the Langhe in Piemonte. Cathy learned all of the dishes for the dinner at the incomparable Osteria Antica Torre in the village of Barbaresco.
We hope you find a weekend you can’t resist and join us on the river!
